SUMMARY:Planning the Future Series with James Traylor – Session 2: Special Needs Trusts
DESCRIPTION:Planning for the future is one of the most important steps families can take to protect the long-term well-being of a loved one with a disability. Special Needs Trusts (SNTs) help ensure that individuals can maintain eligibility for important public benefits while still having access to additional resources that improve quality of life—such as housing options\, staffing supports\, services\, activities\, and personal needs. This session will help parents\, caregivers\, and professionals understand how SNTs work and how they can create financial security and choice for the future. \n\n\n\nParticipants will learn about the different types of Special Needs Trusts\, including 1st Party (self-settled) trusts\, 3rd Party trusts\, and Pooled Trusts managed by nonprofit organizations. We will discuss when each type is appropriate\, how they are funded\, what “Medicaid payback” means\, and how trusts can be set up as part of a will or during a family’s lifetime. There will also be time for questions to help families feel more confident in planning ahead. \n\n\n\nThis series is led by James Traylor\, President of Rivent Partners and a nationally recognized advocate and presenter. For questions\, please email cknaak@starbridgeinc.org or call 585-371-6742. \n\n\n\nRegistration is required! \n\n\n\n\nRegister Now

SUMMARY:No Placement… No Program…. Now what? Tutoring in New York State
DESCRIPTION:When students cannot attend school or an appropriate program is unavailable\, tutoring is often the only means of access to education. In New York State\, tutoring is frequently used—but often inconsistently applied\, misunderstood\, or delayed—leaving students without meaningful instruction. This session focuses specifically on tutoring in NYS: what it is\, when it must be provided\, how it differs from home/hospital instruction\, and what schools are required to do when students are seeking an appropriate placement. \n\n\n\n\nRegister Now
