While you don’t need to be in the water unless your child requires 1:1 support\, your presence ensures a safe and supportive experience. \n\n\n\nWe encourage families to share any details that will help us best support your child. For example: \n\n\n\n\nDoes your child need goggles or earplugs?\n\n\n\nAre they just beginning to learn or already confident in the water?\n\n\n\nDo they need medication close by? (The YMCA can safely store it.)\n\n\n\nIs your child afraid of water? We have strategies to make them feel comfortable.\n\n\n\n\nIf additional support is needed\, we encourage families to ask their providers for assistance. \n\n\n\nPlease note: Parents must provide swimsuits and towels. DESCRIPTION:Participants will learn what a Child Advocacy Center is\, what supports and services can be provided and will learn what sets The Child Advocacy Center of Greater Rochester apart from other CAC’s in the state. Learn about a new program called Parent Academy and their work to prevent child abuse. The Child Advocacy Center’s Parent Academy is designed to empower parents to take practical steps to protect their kids and strengthen their families. By learning the basics of child development\, prevention and safety\, and how to talk to kids about difficult topics\, parents will gain real life skills to spot red flags and keep their kids safe both online and offline.
