Participants will learn what a Child Advocacy Center is, what supports and services can be provided and will learn what sets The Child Advocacy Center of Greater Rochester apart from other CAC’s in the state. Learn about a new program called Parent Academy and their work to prevent child abuse. The Child Advocacy Center’s Parent Academy is designed to empower parents to take practical steps to protect their kids and strengthen their families. By learning the basics of child development, prevention and safety, and how to talk to kids about difficult topics, parents will gain real life skills to spot red flags and keep their kids safe both online and offline. Parent Academy will help parents understand how to best respond to safety needs depending on a child’s age and stage of development, intellectual abilities, and exposure to previous traumatic events.
