The Child Advocacy Center’s (The CAC) Parent Academy program is designed to empower parents and caregivers with practical, evidence-based skills and strategies to keep their children safe and strengthen family bonds. Designed for adults of all kinds who support and care for children. Parent Academy offers a safe space for constructive dialogue, skill sharing, and building networks of support with other parents.
The Parent Academy program takes place over the course of six 90-minute sessions.
Cohorts of 10-15 adults will discuss the following topics:
- Best practices for child safety and child abuse prevention
- Fostering healthy brain development in children
- Differentiating between healthy child sexual development and unhealthy/concerning behaviors
- Building safe and healthy online habits/practices
- Navigating difficult discussions with children
- How to build resilience and support networks for you and your children
Each Parent Academy Program includes:
- A robust catalog of resources and course materials both in print and online
- Culturally responsive, trauma-informed facilitator
- Transportation reimbursement available for participants
- Light meal for each session
- Raffle giveaways for each session
- Optional parallel education through our Youth Academy curriculum
