In Collaboration with The Child Advocacy Center of Greater Rochester

The Child Advocacy Center’s (The CAC) Parent Academy program is designed to empower parents and caregivers with practical, evidence-based skills and strategies to keep their children safe and strengthen family bonds. Designed for adults of all kinds who support and care for children. Parent Academy offers a safe space for constructive dialogue, skill sharing, and building networks of support with other parents.

The Parent Academy program takes place over the course of six 90-minute sessions.

Cohorts of 10-15 adults will discuss the following topics:

  • Best practices for child safety and child abuse prevention
  • Fostering healthy brain development in children
  • Differentiating between healthy child sexual development and unhealthy/concerning behaviors
  • Building safe and healthy online habits/practices
  • Navigating difficult discussions with children
  • How to build resilience and support networks for you and your children

Each Parent Academy Program includes:

  • A robust catalog of resources and course materials both in print and online
  • Culturally responsive, trauma-informed facilitator
  • Transportation reimbursement available for participants
  • Light meal for each session
  • Raffle giveaways for each session
  • Optional parallel education through our Youth Academy curriculum
