This session provides a comprehensive, accessible overview of the transition from high school to college for students with disabilities. Drawing from the Effective College Planning for Students with Disabilities manual created by WNYCCDA, participants will learn about the shift from IDEA to ADA/Section 504, the changing roles of students, families, and educators, and how accommodations work at the college level. We will explore how to navigate disability services, understand documentation requirements, choose the right institution, utilize assistive technology, and develop self‑advocacy skills. This session is ideal for students, families, and professionals seeking clear, practical guidance for a confident transition to postsecondary education. Presented by: Nicole Mucica; Director, Student Accessibility Services at Brockport College. |
